2018 Volunteer Trip Part 1: Children's Detention Centre - Malaysia

We visited the Children's Detention Centre today and lucky for us, our yogi volunteer Nancy taught them some yoga and meditation techniques! We also celebrated late Christmas with the children, decorated a tree, exchanged greeting cards, gave them gifts, and finished it off with a KFC lunch!

The staff and the NGOs who work there are doing an amazing job advocating for them and fighting for their safe return home. The children come from many nations, including Myanmar, Indonesia, Malaysia and Vietnam and are exploited for labour, for sex and for their organs.

This centre manages over 100 cases per year and the staff say they desperately need some vibrant paint in the playroom, a new TV and DVD player for the kids, and a playground for the children to play in. If you want to help or know anyone who can sponsor, email info@onebodyvillagecanada.org!
